In 1894 when Har Sinai was a mere 52 years old and moving into its new building on Bolton St., the woman's auxiliary was formed. Organized at first to procure new carpeting for the building, the women's auxiliary went on to perform larger functions; in 1913 itbecame one of the founding members of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods (WRJ), changing its name to Har Sinai Sisterhood.
Today Har Sinai Sisterhood has complete involvement in the religious and social life of the congregation, including participating in services, reading from the Torah, holding weekly Bible study and a monthly Rosh Chodesh group. Sisterhood also runs trips and social and cultural events throughout the year and promotes a true sense of camaraderie and friendship among its members.
Sisterhood is also involved with a variety of fund-raising activities including running the Temple's Judaica Shop. Judaica items are available for all holidays and occasions and personalized kippah and tallit can be ordered for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and weddings.
New congregants receive a year's free membership to Sisterhood. Please note that Sisterhood is open to congregants and non-congregants.
