Vision & Mission Statement
Vision:
Har Sinai Congregation will be the most welcoming and inclusive Congregation in the Baltimore region; recognized for its respect for interfaith families, by Jews-By-Choice and all others who wish to continue their Journey of Jewish discovery.
Mission:
Har Sinai Congregation’s Outreach Committee, building on the Congregation’s strong tradition of welcoming, inclusion and respect, will foster, initiate and support opportunities, programs, services, resources and education to reinforce and assure the continuation and enhancement of these values within the Har Sinai Congregation community, while conveying knowledge of our values throughout the Baltimore region.
- To promote Judaism as a way of life and thought which can nourish the hearts, minds and souls of not only those who are born Jews, but for all who may seek to draw near.
- To provide ongoing and regularly scheduled forums for interfaith couples to meet and share their concerns, issues, and wisdom.
- To reach out to Jews-By-Choice at Har Sinai Congregation in order to welcome them into the Har Sinai Congregation family and aid them in their continuing journey of Jewish discovery.
- To sensitize the Congregation, staff and especially Religious School faculty and administration to the unique concerns of interfaith families as they present themselves in the classroom guided by Reform Jewish precepts and Har Sinai Congregation’s values.
- To be a resource for parents and grandparents of interfaith children, to aid them and guide them in healthy and successful ways of relating to their children or grandchildren.
- To reach beyond the Har Sinai Congregation family to the larger greater Baltimore area to welcome unaffiliated interfaith families to attend various programs and events throughout the year.
