There are a variety of programs offered to provide congregants with ongoing Jewish education experiences:

Weekly study

Sunday at Har Sinai is not just “kid stuff.” In keeping with the long tradition of lifelong learning in Judaism, Har Sinai congregation is pleased to announce the first semester’s Continuing Education offerings for learners from 18 to 108 for the coming year. All class sessions will take place Sunday’s when Religious School is in session.

The fee for each class is *$25 for members and $50 for non-members. Call Sheila Mentz at Har Sinai for additional details at (410) 654-9393.

9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

Beginner and Intermediate Hebrew for Adults
Improve you ability to read in the language of our liturgy.

10:30 a.m. - 11:25 a.m.

A Taste of Applied Talmud
Practical applications of Talmudic wisdom in contemporary society will be covered in this course. Did you ever wonder what Jewish legal tradition suggests about such modern issues as business boycotts, in-vitro fertilization or charitable contributions? This course will address these and other present-day societal dilemmas.

11:30 a.m. - 12:25 p.m.

Parsha Hashavua (Torah portion of the week)
An in depth looks at selected sections of the weekly Torah portion. Har Sinai will provide Plaut Torah Commentary books for use during the discussion or you are welcome to bring your own.

* Congregants who need financial aid please speak with Rabbi Boxman. Our goal is to make lifelong Jewish learning available to anyone who wants to participate.

Bible Study is held on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon

Torah study is held on Shabbat morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Discussion on the parsha of the week and readings from the prophets are included, led by either the Rabbi, Cantor or lay leadership.

Congregants are welcome to participate in any weekly program. Due to the nature of the study, it is possible to join at any time.

Scholar-in-Residence

Scholar-in-residence programs take place several times a year. These programs bring noted scholars to Har Sinai for a weekend of learning. Scholars usually teach after Shabbat services on Friday night and again after Havdallah on Saturday. A Sunday brunch and learn-session normally complete these weekends. The only cost to congregants is for meals.

Additional Ongoing Education Programs Include:
· sofa seminars with the Rabbi
· music seminars with the Cantor
· special holiday-related programs such as Tikun Leil Shavuot on the eve of Shavuot
· Shabbaton
